Shaquil Barrett will have double-digit sacks

This Spring, the Buccaneers added long time Denver Broncos’ edge rusher Shaquil Barrett to a one-year, $4 million deal. This signing could turn out to be one of the best signings of the offseason, not only for the Buccaneers, but around the league as well.

Barrett has seen significant playing time over the last four years in Denver and has recorded 14 total sacks in that span. However, Barrett has always been stuck in the logjam of pass rushers that the Broncos field every year, playing behind guys like Von Miller, Demarcus Ware, ad Bradley Chubb throughout his time in Denver.

Pro Football Focus (subscription required) has graded Barrett out high over the last few seasons. Now in Tampa Bay where he will see the field plenty, he could post career high numbers and make the Broncos regret not putting him on the field more often.

Especially with the neck injury suffered by Jason Pierre-Paul earlier this Spring in a car accident, the Buccaneers have only rookie Anthony Nelson, Carl Nassib, and Noah Spence as viable options off the edge opposite Barrett. Expect Barrett to take full advantage of his newfound playing time and post double-digit sacks for the pewter and red.
