S Eric Berry

Yes he is a bit older and has been prone to some injuries over the past three seasons, but adding Eric Berry on a short term deal to play over the top or in a hybrid role for Todd Bowles and the Buccaneers’ defense would be an absolute win for the Buccaneers. At 30 years old, Berry is eager to prove that he still has some juice left in the tank and can still play at a high level.

Berry is a five time Pro Bowler and has been named an All-Pro three times throughout his nine year career; he was also named the AP Comeback Player of the Year in 2015 after returning to the gridiron after defeating cancer. Berry has, however, played just three regular season games over the past two years, leading to the Kansas City Chiefs deciding to move on from him.

Throughout his career, Berry has tallied a total of 14 interceptions, five defensive touchdowns, 51 passes defended, five sacks, and four forced fumbles. No slouch against the run either, Berry has recorded 29 tackles for loss and 379 solo tackles from his safety position as well.

Bowles gets the most out of safeties in his defenses, so the addition of Berry in Tampa Bay would be fun. If the Buccaneers need a true leader on the defensive side of the ball still, Berry is the obvious choice as he could reign lead a young defensive back group.
