Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign Devin White… finally
By Cory Kinnan
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the fifth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft have agreed to a deal as Devin White is set to report to training camp tomorrow.
Just under the deadline for fifth overall pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Devin White to report to training camp with the rest of the rookies tomorrow, he has agreed to his rookie deal with the team. White was one of just five rookies left that had not agreed to his deal, and now the Buccaneers do not have to worry about whether or not he would be at training camp.
This wraps up the entire rookie class for the Buccaneers as they have all now signed their rookie deals and will be ready to report to training camp in Tampa Bay tomorrow. While no details of the holdup between White and the Bucs have been released, those are no longer necessary as he gets ready to strap on his chrome pewter helmet this week.
White was the Butkus Award winner last season, named as the best linebacker in all of college football, as a member of the Louisiana State Tigers. He hopes to bring that same tenacity and success to the Buccaneers who struggled mightily against the pass and run last season.
Getting younger this offseason, the Buccaneers will rely a ton on their rookie class, and in fact, White was already receiving first team reps from day one in Todd Bowles’ defense. Sean Murphy-Bunting, Jamel Dean, and Mike Edwards also are slated to see significant time as rookies this year on the defensive side of the ball.
No need to worry Bucs fans, White is here, signed, and ready to roll. The rookies report for training camp tomorrow, with practices set to begin on Thursday.
