Should we buy the Ronald Jones hype?

Like Winston, second year running back had an abysmal rookie season after being the Buccaneers’ 38th overall pick in last year’s draft. The Buccaneers showed trust in both him and Peyton Barber this season after choosing not to draft another back in the draft last April.

With less than 50 yards rushing, one touchdown, and less than two yards per carry to his name after one season, Jones has put on 13 pounds of muscle and looks to rebound during his sophomore campaign. However, we have seen this before with Spence, where he rocks up every offseason, gets our hopes up, then does nothing on the field.

Is the Jones hype to be trusted? For now it is safe to take a step back and let Jones prove it first. Besides, Barber will again be the lead back for the Bucs this season again. Jones will first have to earn carries from his own teammate first before earning respect around the league.

Nonetheless, it is worth watching Jones this summer as he attempts bounce back from a nearly non-existent rookie season. 13 pounds heavier, Jones looks to make his name known in a big way this summer.
