CB Sean Murphy-Bunting

Devin White would be the easy answer for standouts among the rookies as he has had to avoid the orange quarterback jersey on multiple occasions, but instead we mention a guy fighting for a starting job in cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting. After being relatively unknown by many (however my CB3 behind only Amani Oruwariye and Byron Murphy) Murphy-Bunting became the fourth cornerback drafted last April.

Like Davis, Murphy-Bunting has been ripping the ball away from offensive players, making acrobatic plays, and picking off passes. He had a knack for making plays during minicamp and he has continued to carry that playmaking ability into training camp.

Although he was drafted in the second round and is from a small school, Murphy-Bunting is already looking like a steal for the Buccaneers as they look to get bigger defenders who can hang with the likes of Michael Thomas and Julio Jones. Murphy-Bunting and Dean fit the mold, and in all honesty it may spell bad news for 2016 first rounder Vernon Hargreaves.

One thing is for sure, the defensive backfield could not get any worse than it was a year ago. Not only is it better, but the secondary has potential to be really good in 2019. Davis and Murphy-Bunting are only two mentioned who are standing out right now, but Dean and safety Mike Edwards aren’t quiet either.
