I mean, he’s a perennial Pro Bowl tackle

The main reason the Buccaneers should consider adding Williams to their roster is the most obvious one of all: he is really good at playing football. The Buccaneers, especially in a make-or-break year that could lead to a rebuild if it goes poorly, are not in a position to turn away great football players.

In his nine year NFL career to this point (all in Washington), Williams has been named to seven Pro Bowls. Those seven Pro Bowls have all been consecutive over the last seven years, making it every year since 2012. The Buccaneers would be hard pressed to have seven Pro Bowls combined on their roster right now, exaggerated for effect.

If the Buccaneers do not think Alex Cappa has developed as much or as quickly as they would have liked, then they should not hesitate to fill that void with someone other than a journeyman backup like Earl Watford. There is not a single doubt that Williams would immediately upgrade the Tampa Bay offensive front from day-one.

The Buccaneers have never been shy about acquiring big named players on the market in the past, and this year should be no different. While the addition of Williams would cause some reconfiguring along the offensive line in Tampa Bay, it could turn out for the best for the Bucs.
