QB Jameis Winston

Finally, the one that matters the most for the success of the Buccaneers this year, their hot and cold quarterback Jameis Winston. After having the worst year of his career as a professional last season, Winston looks poised to unleash all of the potential that everyone knows is hiding in his right arm.

The arm strength has never been a secret around the league, but his accuracy down the field and his decision making have been rightfully pegged as suspect at best. While Winston has thrown his fair share of picks during camp, Arians has stated that he is asking Winston to force some throws in order to allow the defense to see if they are positioned correctly.

As for his downfield accuracy, Winston has shown more touch, making a spectacular throw on the run to Mike Evans downfield and hitting O.J. Howard right in the bread basket in the endzone on a corner route. Avoiding off-the-field incidents and any quarterback competition this year, Winston looks more poised and confident entering his contract year.

Pro Football Focus (subscription required) has already pegged Winston as the dark horse to win the passing title this year, and Arians’ vertical style of offense certainly fits the mold of his strengths. Watch out this season as Winston has some serious potential to throw for 5,000 yards this year for the Buccaneers.
