NFC South fantasy roundup: Where do Buccaneers rank?
By Dylan Grimm
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Finally the team you came here to see. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the least amount of players of any NFC South team on Berry’s top 100. The unquestioned fantasy stud and fan favorite Mike Evans checks in at 22 overall. Mike Evans has proven to be that consistent WR you can draft early and rely on to produce at a high level.
Evans has topped 1,000 yards and 70 catches every season outside of his rookie season. Evans is going towards the round two/three turn and is someone you can confidently start as your WR1. If you take a running back or two early Evans should be high on your list of targets to start your WR core.
Next on the list is yet another receiver in the talented third year player out of Penn State in Chris Godwin. Godwin has served primarily as a reserve receiver before having a good season last year in which we saw him total 59 receptions for 842 yards and seven touchdowns.
Godwin is currently ranked pretty high as the 46th overall player. Bruce Arians traditionally does not have two fantasy relevant receivers on his rosters but has praised Godwin time and time again. Godwin is expected to have a breakout season topping 1,000 yards and setting a career high in receptions. He seems to be skyrocketing up draft boards due to the hype but usually goes in round five or early round six.
Our last player to check in on the list is the ultra athletic tight end in OJ Howard. Howard has dealt with relatively minor injuries and inconsistent quarterback play and that has hurt his numbers thus far. Howard has all the skills and talent needed to be an elite tight end in this league and expect just that in 2019.
If Howard plays even 14 games, fully expect him to finish as a top eight fantasy tight end if not even a top five one. Howard is ranked a little lower than expected at number 86 overall, but he will have to prove he can stay healthy to climb those rankings. Howard’s current ADP sees him being selected in the middle of round five. Round five is risky but it could pay off. If he slips to round seven or eight he becomes a draft steal.
