The Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted wide receiver Scotty Miller with hopes that his speed and explosiveness would translate; he is now back on the field.

After missing two weeks of training camp and both preseason game with a hamstring injury, sixth round wide receiver Scotty Miller was back in pads for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers today. Even though he was back on just a limited basis, it was a step in the right direction to get the Bowling Green product back on the field before the end of the preseason.

Earlier last week, head coach Bruce Arians was rather candid about Miller and the amount of time he spent on the sideline. When asked, Arians responded, “ I’d like to see Scotty Miller get his [expletive] back on the field” (via Greg Auman).

As Miller has been sidelined, receivers Justin Watson, Bobo Wilson, and Spencer Schnell have been thriving for the Buccaneers. In addition to these three receivers, the Buccaneers also added athletic undrafted receiver Emanuel Hall to their roster after he was claimed off of waivers from the Chicago Bears.

The back end of the Buccaneers’ wide receiver room has all of a sudden become murky as Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Breshad Perriman are the only locks to make the team. Miller’s roster spot is up for grabs at this point and he must finish training camp strong to prove he deserves to make the Buccaneers’ final 53-man roster.

There was a ton of buzz surrounding Miller for his speed, agility, and playmaking ability during minicamp and the early portions of training camp. Now that he is back, it will be interesting to see if Miller can regain the trust of the coaching staff and get back to making splash players for the Tampa Bay offense.
