Outside linebacker

In the most shocking of cuts made by Tampa Bay this weekend was that of fourth year edge rusher Noah Spence. It looked like he had finally put it all together this offseason after a strong start to training camp. However Spence made little to no impact in the preseason and as a result, became expendable to the Buccaneers.

Carl Nassib and Shaquil Barrett are set to start at outside linebacker to start the season after the injury to Jason Pierre-Paul this Spring. After the cut of Spence, the Buccaneers are looking at Anthony Nelson, Demone Harris, and Devante Bond as the depth behind the starters.

Nelson and Harris have never played an NFL snap, while Bond is playing his first season as an edge rusher after playing his first three seasons inside. The Buccaneers are more than likely going to add another edge rusher before the start of the season considering the lack of experience that they have off the edge.

At least until Pierre-Paul is back on the field for the Buccaneers (at least until October), the Buccaneers could struggle off the edge if Nassib or Barrett take a hit this season. If not then Nelson, Bond, and Harris could learn from trial by fire.
