Buccaneers release unofficial depth chart ahead of 49ers matchup
By Cory Kinnan
Logan already starting, Gay is elite
Special teams wise, rookie Matt Gay is listed as the starting kicker after stealing the job from veteran Cairo Santos. Gay has been booming kicks all summer for the Buccaneers, making kicks from over 50 yards with ease in game action; he has even made kicks from over 60 during practice sessions as well.
The Buccaneers swapped out Bryan Anger for Bradley Pinion at the punter position this summer to save about $1 million in cap space with the move. Pinion was the only punter on the roster for the Buccaneers all summer, so it is no surprise to see him atop the depth chart here; Zach Triner is listed as the starting long snapper for the Bucs on this depth chart.
The only shake up along the special teams depth chart is at the returner position as newcomer T.J. Logan is already listed as the lead man at both kick returner for the Buccaneers. Logan is listed above Bobo Wilson and Ronald Jones as the Buccaneers’ kick returner; Wilson is listed as the starting punt returner with Scotty Miller behind him.
The Buccaneers will ride a young roster into Raymond James Stadium on Sunday to take on the 49ers. They will need to rely heavily on their veteran presence to lead this young roster with only three players over the age of 30 on their roster.
