The 2019 season hasn’t even begun for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but here is a look ahead at what the 2020 NFL Draft could bring for the pewter and red.

Considering yesterday was a holiday, it is the first mock draft Monday of the year! The Draft Network has launched its 2020 mock draft machine, which means mock drafts from The Pewter Plank are back. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers at this point will be in the second year of the Bruce Arians era and are given the eighth pick in the 2020 NFL Draft based off of Super Bowl odds set in Las Vegas.

Last year the Buccaneers got a haul of talented rookies, including linebacker Devin White with the fifth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. This draft assumes quarterback Jameis Winston will be the quarterback of the Buccaneers beyond 2019; if the Buccaneers choose to draft another quarterback, then the eighth pick will be a quarterback without much debate.

The biggest needs of the Buccaneers right now are along the offensive line and in the trenches and off the edges defensively. The Bucs’ front office and head coach Arians did a great job of addressing the struggling secondary from 2018 with the additions of Sean Murphy-Bunting, Jamel Dean, and Mike Edwards.

If this writer had to guess, the Buccaneers will struggle to get after opposing quarterbacks this season and will look to address that issue in the 2020 draft, especially after the injury to Jason Pierre-Paul and his impending expensive contract entering next season. Without further ado, here is the first mock draft for the 2020 NFL Draft of the year.

The Bucs traded their 2020 seventh round pick with DeSean Jackson to the Philadelphia Eagles for a 2019 sixth round pick earlier this Spring.
