Second Quarter
Not much has changed between the 49ers and Buccaneers here as Todd Bowles has the pewter and red are still dominating the San Francisco offense. Unfortunately, the Buccaneers’ offense has not put up any fireworks either and the game remains close in this week one matchup.
Kicker Matt Gay hits on his first career field goal from 31 yards out after another Buccaneers’ offensive possession stalls. The kicking curse looks to be over in Tampa, and Gay is only looking more promising by the second. With half of the second quarter still remaining before the midway point of the game, the Buccaneers lead the 49ers 10-7.
Running the two minute drill in order to get some points before halftime, Shanahan puts his trust behind the arm of Jimmy G. A year after tearing his ACL, Garoppolo does not disappoint as he finds Pro Bowl tight end George Kittle from one yard out to give the 49ers a 14-10 lead as the teams head back into the locker room for halftime.
The game is within striking distance for the Buccaneers after a tightly contested half of play to this point. With two quarters left to go, can Arians rally his troops to take over the game and see a victory over the 49ers?
