Buccaneers vs. 49ers: What does Madden think?
By Cory Kinnan
Third Quarter
The Buccaneers and 49ers have come back out of the locker rooms and have taken their place back on the sidelines as the second half of play is set to begin. Can the Buccaneers repeat last year and leave week one a victor once again? With one half still to play, they have a small margin on the scoreboard to climb back from.
Their first drive out of the half, the Buccaneers drive down the field on the 49ers and now find themselves in scoring position. Into the redzone and progressing closer to the goal line, the pewter and red is knocking on the door.
On third and goal, the Buccaneers hand the ball to their leading rusher from a year ago; Peyton Barber slams the ball across the goal line from one yard out. Matt Gay is now two of two on extra points as the Buccaneers take the lead with the score of 17-14 over the 49ers.
Just a few minutes later, the 49ers are able to get into scoring position and are knocking on the door as they attempt to take back the lead. The Bucs’ defense holds, and the 49ers are forced to settle for a field goal as Gould strikes one through the uprights from 33 yards away. Heading into the final quarter of play, the Buccaneers and 49ers are tied up at 17 all.
