Fourth Quarter
It all comes down to the last 15 minutes of the game to decide the outcome of the week one matchup between the 49ers and Buccaneers. After a relatively boring game to this point, the scoreboard is about to be set on fire by the two offenses.
On their opening drive of the quarter, Winston is back under center and ready to lead the Buccaneers after being voted as a captain earlier in the week. He does not disappoint as he leads the pewter and red back down the field, ending in a 12 yard strike from Winston to tight end O.J. Howard to give the Buccaneers the lead with ten minutes to go.
Unfortunately for the Buccaneers, Garoppolo mimics Winston and drives the 49ers right down the field. Kittle records his second touchdown of the game as he has a catch and run of 22 yards on a ball from Jimmy G; the Buccaneers and Niners are all knotted up again at 24.
After a three-and-out by Winston and the Buccaneers’ offense, the 49ers take the ball back over and look to take the lead. With three minutes left in the game, Jimmy Garoppolo finds wide receiver Dante Pettis from six yards out to give the 49ers a 31-24 lead.
With things looking bleak for the Buccaneers, Winston leads the offense back out on the field for one last chance to win the game. Dinking and dunking down the field, Winston has the Buccaneers within striking distance. As the offense continues to move down the field, Winston connects with his favorite target Cameron Brate with 52 seconds left to tie the game at 31.
We are headed to over time.
