6.168: Kylin Hill, RB, Mississippi State
With their last pick in the 2020 draft, the Buccaneers shift their attention back to the offensive side of the ball and add running back Kylin Hill from Mississippi State. Ronald Jones appears to have taken the advantage over Peyton Barber in the Tampa Bay backfield, and Barber is set to hit the open market in free agency after signing just a one year deal this offseason.
Even with the ascension of Dare Ogunbowale this preseason and training camp, adding another back with extreme burst through the line of scrimmage and between the tackles could give Tampa a dynamic duo in Jones and Hill, should Jones continue his upward trend. At 5-11 and 215 pounds, Hill is not only a physical runner, but he has also shown the ability to make select plays out of the backfield as a receiver as well.
In his first action as the lead back for the Bulldogs last year, Hill recorded 734 yards on 117 carries, averaging nearly six and a half yards per carry. Hill added another 176 yards to his total on 22 catches out of the backfield and scored eight total touchdowns for Mississippi State a year ago.
Off to a fast start in 2019 thus far, Hill has already tallied 320 yards rushing and two touchdowns, averaging nearly eight yards per carry. As the Buccaneers are unlikely to re-sign Barber again after the 2019 season, Hill would serve as an explosive option as his potential replacement via the 2020 NFL Draft.
