Both starting outside linebackers for the Buccaneers Carl Nassib and Shaquil Barrett deserve a contract extension after this season ends as they both only have one year left in Tampa. Barrett already has four sacks this season through two games, and Nassib has been voted a team captain and is a solid force off the edge.

Fourth rounder Anthony Nelson has shown promise after being graded as the fifth best Buc in Thursday’s win over the Panthers by PFF as well. One thing is for certain at this point, Jason Pierre-Paul has become expendable, and given his massive cap hit, the Buccaneers could decide to move on from him after the 2019 season.

This would leave just three outside linebackers on the Buccaneers’ roster that have actually played quality NFL snaps. While Nassib is a strong player for the Buccaneers, he may be better suited for a rotational, versatile role in Tampa. The Bucs should look to add an additional edge rusher early in the 2020 draft, and here they add Florida standout Jabari Zuniga with their second round pick.

Through three weeks of his senior season for the Gators, Zuniga has three sacks and is well on pace for a double-digit total by the end of the year. Coming off of a double-digit year last season as well, Zuniga has a career total of 18.5 sacks for Florida to this point.

Given his college experience, Zuniga could come in and contribute right away in a rotational role as a rookie for the Buccaneers. Adding him to the pass rushing rotation in Tampa could give the Buccaneers another added threat off the edge as Barrett has been doing most of the heavy lifting by himself.
