6.168 Jalen Hurts, QB, Oklahoma

After the Buccaneers traded their seventh rounder with DeSean Jackson to the Philadelphia Eagles a year ago, they enter the sixth round with their last round pick in the 2020 draft at this point. Dak Prescott was a fourth rounder of the Dallas Cowboys back in 2016 and Gardner Minshew was taken in the sixth round by the Jacksonville Jaguars just this past April.

While the Buccaneers may not be in dire need of a quarterback as it seems Bruce Arians is dedicated to Jameis Winston beyond the 2019 season, they could potentially take a flier on an intriguing prospect like Jalen Hurts in the sixth round. With Blaine Gabbert hurt and on a one-year deal and Ryan Griffin as nothing more than a fringe backup, the Buccaneers could look to add another quarterback late in the draft.

Hurts is getting his taste of the Lincoln Riley quarterback magic; after producing back-to-back Heisman Trophy and first overall picks in Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray, Hurts is on a torrid hot pace to start his senior season after transferring from Alabama to Oklahoma. Hurts is no Mayfield or Murray, but he, at this point, has made himself an intriguing prospect for teams to look at in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Through his first three games as a Sooner, Hurts has already tallied 880 passing yards, nine touchdowns, no interceptions, and an additional 378 yards and four scores on the ground. He is the front-runner in the Heisman race early in the 2019 collegiate season, and has already raised his draft stock as he plays out his last year of eligibility.
