Mock Draft Monday: Buccaneers no longer in need of a QB?
By Cory Kinnan
Summary/How we got here
The main reason we are where we are at with this mock draft is because the Buccaneers got a better game out of Winston, and it has been rumored throughout the first two weeks that Arians will be committed to him no matter how the 2019 season goes. This means the Buccaneers will have the opportunity and flexibility to use their high draft picks elsewhere to address holes on their roster.
1.8: Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa
2.40: Jabari Zuniga, EDGE, Florida
3.72 Eno Benjamin, RB, Arizona State
4.104 Marvin Wilson, DT, Florida State
5.136 Alohi Gilman, S, Notre Dame
6.168 Jalen Hurts, QB, Oklahoma
This mock draft was done on the Draft Network’s mock draft machine, and here is the proof of the results of this mock draft:
Offensively, the Buccaneers are set for the future at wide receiver and tight end, so unless a late round flier is taken at one of those positions, it would not make sense for one to be taken early in the draft. Running back and offensive line are the main areas of concern, still, in Tampa Bay; these two needs were addressed within the first two days of the draft.
Defensively, it remains a depth issue at most positions. This led to the selection of Zuniga in the second, who could develop into a threat and a starter off the edge, and rotational contributors at safety and defensive tackle.
