3.72: Anfernee Jennings, EDGE, Alabama

The biggest surprise, and pleasantly so for the Buccaneers has been the play of newcomer Shaquil Barrett, who signed a one-year deal this offseason. Through the first three weeks of the season, Barrett has recorded eight sacks already, including four against the Giants after winning NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance the week prior.

Him and Carl Nassib are both free agents this season, and hopefully the Buccaneers will find it within themselves to to re-sign both of them long term. However, if they do, then it is likely Jason Pierre-Paul will be released to free up some cap space. This would leave just rookie Anthony Nelson off the edge in a rotational role.

Adding another edge rusher with a day two pick in the draft should be of interest to the Buccaneers in order to give them a formidable rotation of Barrett, Nassib and Nelson. Anfernee Jennings from Alabama would be that guy with a mid-round pick for the pewter and red to add to this group.

A fifth-year senior at Bama, Jennings is on pace for a double-digit sack season this year with three already; he has added four tackles for loss as well for the Crimson Tide this year as he looks to boost his draft stock. Over the span of his career, Jennings has now recorded a total of nine and a half sacks and 25 tackles for loss for Bama.
