After a fast start to the 2019 season for the Buccaneers, wide receiver Chris Godwin leads the league in quite the peculiar statistic.

We are now three weeks into the NFL regular season, and for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they seem to have developed one of the better one-two punches around the league at the wide receiver position. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin have now both caught multiple touchdown passes for the Buccaneers.

Evans, after a slow start, turned it on against the Giants for a massive three score game, while Godwin looks like he has taken the next step in his progression as well. Together they have tallied catches for over 500 yards and five touchdowns through the first three games of the season; quarterback Jameis Winston must be smiling at the consistent weapons he has to throw the ball to.

While Godwin continues to take the next step forward in his career, on pace for over 1,000 yards and double-digit touchdowns, he also leads the league in one very particular statistic. We know that Winston can be rather sporadic and a bit inaccurate throwing the football, and as a result, Godwin leads the league in the percentage of passes that he catches that are off the mark.

Ahead of receivers like Marvin Jones, Terry McLaurin, and Larry Fitzgerald, the percentage of passes that he catches that are off the mark is at 11.1 percent. The next highest, which is Jones, is at 10.5 percent. Winston is often times throwing with pressure in his face, but this is more of a kudos to Godwin for his ability to go up and make a play on the football.

Clearly the Buccaneers hit the jackpot with their second round pick back in 2017, as he has continued to get better each year he has been in the league. Now, Godwin leads the league in one statistical category, a very wonky statistical category, but a league leader nonetheless.
