Nassib-Barrett, the perfect compliments to one another

Through just three games with the pewter and red, Shaquil Barrett has already recorded eight sacks after he took down Giants’ rookie quarterback Daniel Jones four times on Sunday, and Cam Newton three times the week before; he had just 14 sacks in four seasons with the Denver Broncos. Barrett currently leads the league in sacks, as he is two sacks ahead of Cleveland Browns’ defensive end Myles Garrett.

While Barrett has been the one recording all of the sacks, he can thank his running mate in Carl Nassib (as well as defensive tackles Vita Vea and Ndamukong Suh) for forcing quarterbacks into his arms with his added pressure. Nassib has only one sack this season, which came on Sunday in the Bucs’ loss to the Giants, but has added a ton of pressure on opposing quarterbacks as well; he is as reliable as they come as he can always be depended upon to be in the right spot, setting the edge and keeping contain.

On one of Barrett’s sacks on Sunday, Carl Nassib long armed the right tackle right back into Jones, forced him to move left and right into the arms of the league leader in sacks. On another Barrett sack, he forced a fumble which Nassib was able to jump on as he too had a reservation for the party in the backfield.
