Buccaneers roster full of Pro Football Focus standouts

Through the first four weeks of the regular season for the Buccaneers, they have a handful of players grading out well by Pro Football Focus.

A quarter of the way through the 2019 season, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers look to be in the driver’s seat of the NFC South due to injuries around the rest of the division; they currently sit with a 2-2 record on the year after Sunday’s victory over the Los Angeles Rams. Head coach Bruce Arians has seemed to expedite the rebuild in Tampa, and has quarterback Jameis Winston playing to his highest level yet.

While data and analytics is not the sexy approach to understanding football, all of the teams near the top of the league have bought in. The biggest of the analytical users are the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots, the Super Bowl champs from the past two years.

The most prominent football database of analytical knowledge is Pro Football Focus (subscription required). This Buccaneers team, who PFF was high on coming into the season, has five players grading out at 80 or above, which is excellent from PFF standards; the Bucs even have three players grading out at an elite level thus far through the 2019 season.
