On his way to a career year, Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin is atop the league in analytical rankings and in the box score.

Chris Godwin was the 11th wide receiver drafted in the 2017 NFL Draft, and now looking back, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers got one of the better ones in the class. Fast forward to Godwin’s third season, and through the first quarter of the season, he is blossoming into one of the best wide receivers in the National Football League.

As a rookie, Godwin managed to post a statline of 34 catches for over 500 yards and one score for the pewter and red. These are not bad numbers for a rookie receiver who was selected in the third round out of Penn State University. Godwin would then go on to make a massive jump in his sophomore season for the Buccaneers last year.

In 2018, Godwin saw 40 more targets than he did as a rookie, and he did not disappoint on his opportunities (even if the quarterback play and revolving door was not ideal for a second year player). On 95 targets, Godwin reeled in 59 catches for 842 yards and a whopping seven touchdowns, catching passes from both Jameis Winston and Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Godwin’s progress has not stunted as he has yet again taken another leap forward, but just how good has he been this season for the Buccaneers?
