RG Alex Cappa

Alex Cappa is on this list simply because of the work he and fellow Bucs Offensive linemen did last week against a tough Los Angeles Rams’ defensive front. In the most impressive game of the season they held reigning Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald to zero sacks.

The guard out of Humboldt State (where?) is proving to be a gold mine for general manager Jason Licht. If he and the rest of the much improved Bucs offensive line continue to give Jameis Winston time to throw, they might just make him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL.

A lot of Jameis Winston’s turnaround has to do with the job they have done as compared to years passed. This week they will face yet another fierce defensive line led by Cameron Jordan, who has earned three straight seasons of a 90 overall rating from Pro Football Focus (subscription required).

The line has stepped up and should continue to create big running lanes and a clean pocket for Jameis. Specifically, the interior of the line consisting of Cappa, Ryan Jensen, and Ali Marpet are carrying the unit as a whole; Cappa has calmed a ton of fears about the right guard position with his play this season.
