Over the first four weeks of the season, defensive coordinator Todd Bowles has the Buccaneers defense playing at a high level; the analytics prove it.

There seems to be a common misconception within the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fanbase that the defense has dropped off over the last two games. Two weeks ago, the New York Giants piled on 32 points, while last week the Los Angeles Rams tallied 40 on the pewter and red defense led by defensive coordinator Todd Bowles.

However, this piece hopes to dispel these misconceptions, as the Bucs defense is still playing at a high level despite giving up 72 points over the last two weeks. Besides, eight points in last week’s matchup can be credited to an interception returned for a touchdown and a two point conversion to follow.

The same can be said about the first week of the season as the San Francisco 49ers returned two interceptions for touchdowns, scoring more points than their offense did that day. The reality is, the Buccaneers did not surrender their second touchdown of the season until Daniel Jones ran in a score in the second quarter of the third game of the season.

Here, we take an in-depth look at the Buccaneers’ defense as a whole in hopes of showing that they have been playing at a high level all season.
