1.12: OT Tristan Wirfs, Iowa

Georgia offensive tackle Andrew Thomas will most likely be a top-five pick, and right now the Bucs sit at 12th. Demar Dotson has been a staple at right tackle for years, but he’s getting older and has underperformed so far in 2019. Do not count out the Bucs moving on from left tackle Donovan Smith after his guaranteed money runs out 2021 as well as he has not lived up to his massive extension this offseason.

Jameis Winston is the fourth-most sacked quarterback in the league so far in 2019. The offensive line has been ignored in the draft for too long. In fact, Tristan Wirfs would be the first offensive lineman that the Bucs have taken in the first round since Davin Joseph in 2006.
Wirfs is a day-one right tackle. He’s quick, powerful and he jumps off the line like a bullet. He’s very young; in fact he turns 21 in January.

Despite that, he started in 12 of Iowa’s 13 games in 2018. He’s a solid starter who would be a big help against the stellar pass rushers of the NFC South. He will likely, barring an injury, be a top-15 lock in the draft; in this case, Wirfs lands right in the lap of the Buccaneers.
