QB Jameis Winston

I mean, this one could not be any more obvious, right? Quarterback Jameis Winston has always been a hot button topic throughout his tenure in Tampa, and all he did yesterday was add fuel to that fire. It is time to face the facts, Winston is who he is: an average NFL quarterback, nothing more or less.

The streaky Winston has had a game this season throwing for 400 yards and four scores, consistent and conservative efforts, and some downright ugly games. Yesterday was a downright ugly game for Winston and the pewter and red offense as he surrendered six turnovers on the day and was sacked seven times.

Winston threw five picks to the Panthers’ defense, one of which linebacker Luke Kuechly was the only receiver anywhere in the vicinity. Winston now has ten interceptions on the season, doubling his total in this game alone; the forced fumble that was recovered by the Panthers was also on the quarterback as he navigated the pocket well and slide out of pressure, but then held the ball for entirely too long, taking an unnecessary hit and fumble.

The Bucs know what they have in Winston, and it is up to them as to whether they want an average quarterback at the helm for the future, or if they want to pursue an upgrade.
