Other bridge QB options

The front office for the Buccaneers does not seem to think that the team is in need of a rebuild. Regardless of whether this is true or not, this should lead one to believe that if they move on from Jameis they will look to trade for a veteran quarterback rather than draft a rookie who will require time to learn the system and prepare for the speed of the NFL.

Bruce Arians is not a coach that would be chosen for a rebuild and if the Bucs look to make a switch at quarterback there are other options than just trading for Josh Rosen.

If the Buccaneers are looking for a more experienced player they could look to add Alex Smith. Smith is currently injured and on the Redskins but it is almost assured that Dwayne Haskins is the quarterback of the future in Washington and they will look to move on from Alex Smith.

Smith has a decent deep ball as seen while he was on the Chiefs and would mesh well with Bruce Arians and the deep ball-oriented Buccaneer offense. As a lame duck in Washington, the Bucs could try to get Smith for cheap, although he is likely not a long-term option.

A final quarterback that the Bucs could look to target as a year or two placeholder is Tyrod Taylor. Taylor would certainly not be an upgrade over Jameis but could be used as a mediocre option for the 2020 season if the Bucs wanted to reevaluate the need for a rebuild.

Taylor made a Pro Bowl back in 2015 and also made the playoffs with the Bills (something Jameis has still been unable to do). Taylor would be one of the more surprising options as a game-managing quarterback but he has experience and is consistent when he is on the field, albeit far from flashy.
