Mock Draft Monday: Buccaneers looking to replace Jameis Winston?
By Cory Kinnan
5.139: Benito Jones, IDL, Ole Miss
Sticking with the defensive trenches here in day-three of this mock draft, the Bucs look to add depth to their defensive line as well. With Ndamukong Suh underperforming and on a one year deal, it is hard to see a potentially rebuilding team bringing back a defensive tackle in his 30s.
In the fifth round, the Bucs take Ole Miss big boy Benito Jones to potentially replace Suh and add depth up front. While Vita Vea is thriving in his second season and William Gholston is having his best season in three years, there is really no option along the defensive front to serve in a rotational role besides Beau Allen and Rakeem Nunez-Roches.
Listed at 6-1 and 329 pounds, Jones is plenty of man to step into the defensive front of the Bucs. For being the solid run stuffer that he is, Jones has also tallied eight tackles for loss and three and a half sacks this year for the Rebels. Nearly matching his totals from a year ago already, Jones has shown development that could catch the eyes of NFL scouts.
It is almost a foregone conclusion that another defensive lineman will be added in the draft by the Bucs. Here in the fifth round of this mock, they add the stout Jones to their roster.
