4 Bold predictions for Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Tennessee Titans
By Cory Kinnan
Secondary will hold Ryan Tannehill under 250 yards passing
In his first start as the Titans’ quarterback against the Chargers, Tannehill threw for 312 yards and two scores. The bold prediction here, and I mean BOLD, is that the 32nd ranked pewter and red pass defense will hold Tannehill to under 250 yards passing on Sunday.
In their first matchup against former Buc Adam Humphries, this Todd Bowles-led defense will have had two weeks to prepare for Tannehill and the Titans. Other than savvy veteran tight end Delanie Walker, the Titans do not have a consistent target to choose from.
Corey Davis, A.J. Brown, and Humphries would be the next men up, but at least with Mariota at the helm, none of these guys saw any sort of consistency. This is good news for the Bucs’ struggling secondary, as they may be able to shadow Davis with Carlton Davis and let Hargreaves and company take care of the rest.
As long as linebackers Lavonte David and Devin White can keep a grip on Walker (with some help from the safeties), then the Bucs should be okay in this matchup. While they have been torched this season, this Titans’ passing attack has not shown to be nearly as dangerous as that of the Rams or Saints.
