WR Adam Humphries

In what will be his first game against his former team, wide receiver Adam Humphries is set to face the Buccaneers this Sunday after signing a four-year deal worth $9 million annually this summer. If Walker cannot go Sunday for the Titans, then Humphries will substitute himself in as the security blanket for Tannehill, a role he played often for the Jameis Winston and the Buccaneers over the last four years prior.

While Humphries’ numbers have dropped this year, that can again be placed on the inconsistencies and hesitancies of Mariota. So far in 2019 Humphries has managed just 25 catches for 229 yards and no touchdowns for the Titans, but last week he saw four targets, catching them all from Tannehill for 40 yards.

Humphries will build his shelter right at the sticks, constantly finding himself on the receiving end of first down plays, especially when his team needs them the most. Fans of the pewter and red do not need a reminder of this, as Humphries served as a constant presence for Winston to fall back onto when needed.

While the Buccaneers did not have the necessary funds to re-sign Humphries this offseason and their are no hard feelings on either side of the divorce, this still has the feel of a revenge game for the former Bucs receiver. Keep an eye on Humphries on Sunday, and if you lose him, just find the yellow line indicating a first down and he will be sure to be hovering around.
