DT Jeffery Simmons

Last week, the first round pick of the Titans this past Spring made his debut for them after tearing his ACL training for the draft. Jeffery Simmons is back on the field, and in his first professional game of his career, he wreaked havoc on the Chargers’ backfield.

The rookie interior defensive lineman for the Titans recorded a sack and two tackles for loss in his first career game, and graded out as the highest performer on the Tennessee defense a week ago. In case you were wondering, Simmons tallied more in one game than Bucs’ defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh has done all season, as he has just a half of a sack and one tackle for loss through the first six games of his Bucs’ tenure.

With right guard Alex Cappa still out with a broken arm suffered in the Saints game, the tough interior defensive line of the Titans consisting of Simmons and Jurell Casey are sure to give the Bucs fits. Simmons would have been a top ten pick had he not suffered a devastating injury before the draft, and now his talents are bleeding through on film and in the stat sheet.

Although he is a rookie, he is immensely talented. The Bucs must keep a close watch on Simmons on Sunday as he has the potential to wreck a game in the backfield.
