7 cornerbacks Buccaneers could target in 2020 free agency
By Cory Kinnan
1. Marcus Peters, Baltimore Ravens
Finally, we have reached number one on the list, and he should be familiar to Bucs’ fans as he returned a Winston interception for a touchdown when they faced the Rams in week four. Now a member of the Baltimore Ravens after a trade last week, Peters is set to hit the open market after this season.
Grading out higher than any player on the Buccaneers defense currently, Peters is scored at a high 82.3 according to PFF. The two time Pro Bowler currently has a statline of three interceptions, two returned for touchdowns, and five passes defended.
If the Buccaneers wanted to go after a young, talented lockdown corner and throw big money to try and fix the position, then Peters would be their guy. Peters will be only 27 years old next season, so a four-year deal worth big time cash is most definitely in his future as he could be playing for his fourth team in his career.
If the Buccaneers are not 100 percent sure than Murphy-Bunting, Dean, and Davis can be the cornerbacks of the future, then throwing money at a big time player like Peters should be in the cards for Licht, Arians, and company.
