WR Breshad Perriman

The second member of the Buccaneers who underperformed and contributed to the loss yesterday is wide receiver Breshad Perriman. After signing a one-year, $4 million deal with the pewter and red in the offseason, Perriman’s time in Tampa Bay may already be coming to a close.

If the Bucs do in fact release Perriman, they can recoup a compensatory pick, figured to be in the fourth or fifth round range. Needless to say, as the Buccaneers are not in position to compete this season and may (should) be staring a rebuild in the face, they should take the pick over an underwhelming wide receiver.

Yesterday Perriman was open on a two point conversion that would have tied the game at 17 heading into the half, but was not aware of his surroundings and did not get both feet in bounds. A player with one of the worst catch rates in the league, Perriman saw that rate drop even lower as he failed to record a catch on four targets; he sits with just three catches for 16 yards on the season.

On the game clinching interception thrown by Winston, Perriman failed to track the ball, and as the defense is playing in deep zone, Perriman should have broke inside on his route. He did not as Winston was anticipated, and it took away all hope of winning the game for the pewter and red.

Breshad Perriman, walk the plank!
