CB Darius Slay

This last one is a bit more pricey than the rest, but the Detroit Lions are reportedly shopping their veteran lockdown cornerback Darius Slay. The Bucs would need to make another roster move to clear space for Slay’s salary, but the Bucs may cut wide receiver Breshad Perriman by then end of today to recoup a compensatory pick; this would clear an additional $4 million, putting Tampa on the fringe of being able to afford Slay.

Slay is still under contract through 2021, and about to turn 29 years old (the same age of Arizona Cardinals’ corner Patrick Peterson). The two-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro would be a significant upgrade in the secondary, and if Arians truly thinks this Bucs team can win right now, then why not go all in?

In his seventh season in the league, Slay has 18 career interceptions, including a league-high eight in 2017. So far this season, Slay has recorded one interception and defended an additional three passes as teams are not throwing the ball his way.

dark. Next. NFL officiating is ridiculously bad, cost Buccaneers a victory

Again, a bit more pricey, the Bucs would more than likely need to surrender a second round pick to acquire the Pro Bowl cornerback from the Lions. This move would signify that they Bucs are indeed going all in this season despite a 2-5 record.
