The trade deadline is vastly approaching, and the usually inactive Buccaneers are reportedly looking to add another first round pick.

Usually the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are silent around the trade deadline, but maybe not this year. The Draft Network’s JC Cornell has reported that the Buccaneers are actively trying to add another first round pick.

Additionally, Cornell stated that the Bucs were close to pulling off the deal, but it fell through last second. There has been no word on what the deal was or who the Buccaneers are attempting to trade to get a first round pick, but it seems as though they are very active as the trade deadline approaches.

The team still has a little under two hours to try and work out some deals to acquire more draft assets. The Bucs have been rumored to be shopping O.J. Howard, looking for a “substantial offer” in return, so it would make the most sense that it would be the former first round tight end who is being shopped.

While head coach Bruce Arians stated to the media yesterday that he was not looking to give up on the 2019 season, adding another first round pick has the scent of a total rebuild. Sitting at 2-5, uncertainty at the quarterback position, and a ton of massive (and under-performing) contracts, the Buccaneers have to begin deconstructing this roster to begin rebuilding it.

We are under two hours before the deadline ends, so it will be only a matter of time before we see if any trades come to fruition for the pewter and red before 4 p.m. Keep your eyes peeled to any sports outlet you can find to see what develops.
