3. Find a lockdown cornerback

Whether they are on the team now or they are on another team, the Bucs will have to find a shutdown corner if they hope to win in 2020. The Buccaneer secondary has been atrocious this year despite spending three picks very early on in the drat on these players. The returners and other veteran corners on this team have struggled mightily so far and a change will have to be made.

The Buccaneers do have strong potential talent in the form of Sean Murphy-Bunting, Jamel Dean, and Carlton Davis, but they have also begun a move away from M.J. Stewart and should likely do the same with Vernon Hargreaves. The Bucs are nearly through the first half of the season and are no closer to finding a starting cornerback despite still having a first round pick and three second round picks on the roster. The Bucs have to stop missing on corners in the draft.

If the Buccaneers can find just one decent corner that would change the whole outlook on their defense. Their run defense is the best in the league and they have shown flashes in their pass defense. The addition of one more corner who is able to man up against the likes of Michael Thomas and Julio Jones four times a year could greatly improve the Bucs’ chances of winning.
