Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. The Buccaneers have used three second rounders and a third rounder on the cornerback position over the last two seasons, so why do they need to do so again? Well quite frankly, the cornerbacks they have are not very good; it will be a miracle is Vernon Hargreaves is on this roster next season, and the rookies need more time to grow.

Carlton Davis has proven his worth as a starting threat, but second-year player M.J. Stewart has been inactive over the last two games after starting the season as the Bucs’ nickel corner. Here, they add another young, talented cornerback in the draft in hopes of an immediate payoff.

Here in the second round, the Buccaneers add Ohio State standout Shaun Wade with the 40th overall pick in the draft. One of the hottest, fastest risers in this year’s draft class, the Buckeyes could very well see two corners taken in the first round for the second time in three seasons just as Marshon Lattimore and Gareon Conley did in 2017.

Dead last in passing defense, the Bucs cannot even slow the likes of Daniel Jones, Kyle Allen, Teddy Bridgewater, and Ryan Tannehill (all of which started the season as backup quarterbacks). The Bucs, at this point, must keep throwing darts and hoping something sticks. With Wade, they do just that.
