The pesky connection from Wilson to Lockett

Speaking of the lethal tandem between Wilson and Lockett, they were the biggest reason the pewter and red did not come out with a victory. Contributing to a Bucs’ loss, Lockett finished the game with 13 catches for 152 yards and two touchdowns. Lockett was targeted on 18 of Wilson’s 43 dropbacks (a massive 41.8 percent of looks), and managed to finish with a catch rate of 72 percent in this one.

To put this in perspective, Bucs’ wide receiver Breshad Perriman has a catch rate of just 29.2 percent on the entire season in 2019. On the season, Wilson has a quarterback rating of 138.8 when he is targeting the former third round pick out of Kansas State.

The Bucs simply had no answer for this dynamic duo yesterday; even Dean, who stands four inches taller and runs a faster 40 yard dash time than Lockett could not hold them back. Lockett was then able to draw attention away from other receivers as well, as rookie D.K. Metcalf finished with over 100 yards receiving and a touchdown, and tight end Jacob Hollister reeled in two scores himself.

For making life a living hell on the Bucs yesterday, Russell Wilson and Tyler Lockett, you may walk the plank!
