804. Pick Analysis. Pick 104. RB. player. Scouting Report. Round 4. Cam Akers

Back-to-back Florida State picks! Here in the fourth round, the Buccaneers are able to bolster their rushing attack by selecting Seminoles’ standout Cam Akers with the 104th overall pick in the draft. With Ronald Jones finally taking over the wheels of the rushing attack, (however late in the season it may have happened) and with Peyton Barber on the last year of his deal and unlikely to return, adding another running back should be a priority for the pewter and red.

Akers has great vision and footwork, is a great receiver out of the backfield, and even shows some power when he runs the football. While this writer has him rated as a third round prospect (scouting report can be found here), he was available in the fourth round of this mock draft done on TDN’s mock draft machine.

After a down season behind a terrible FSU offensive line in 2018, Akers has rebounded nicely this year for the Seminoles (even though his line situation has not improved all that much). Averaging nearly five yards per carry, Akers has rushed for 1,042 yards and scored 13 touchdowns for the Seminoles; he has also caught 28 passes out of the backfield for 224 receiving yards and an additional four scores.
