CB Sean Murphy-Bunting

Last but not least, the Buccaneers will need rookie second round pick Sean Murphy-Bunting to step up big this Sunday against the Saints. Third round pick Jamel Dean had a nice bounceback game last week against the Arizona Cardinals, but Murphy-Bunting will be used in a variety of looks this Sunday and must be prepared to take on the high-powered Saints’ wide receiver corp.

With the news of the release of Vernon Hargreaves, the Buccaneers were already thin at the cornerback position, but then more news came down that M.J. Stewart is going to miss a few weeks with a sprained knee. This leaves SMB and the newly activated cornerback from the practice squad Mazzi Wilkins as the only corners who could play in the nickel.

Expect the Buccaneers to start Carlton Davis and Murphy-Bunting at cornerback, then slide Murphy-Bunting into the nickel and play Dean outside in passing situations. Covering the role of playing both outside and inside, Sean Murphy-Bunting will have his hands full and must come prepared.

Another rookie trending in the right direction, the Buccaneers will need Sean Murphy-Bunting to take another step forward on Sunday. He came away with an interception of Teddy Bridgewater in the first matchup, can he come up with another one this week as he is set to face Drew Brees for the first time?
