Mock Draft Monday: Buccaneers move on from Jameis Winston
By Cory Kinnan
A. THIRD. WIDE. RECEIVER.
In a move that still seems as boneheaded and baffling today as it did two weeks ago, the Buccaneers opted to keep wide receiver Breshad Perriman instead of getting a fourth round compensatory pick just for cutting him. That is correct, the Buccaneers kept a receiver averaging one catch per game and nine and a half yards per game over a free fourth round pick.
And it has not paid off for them.
While sixth rounder Scotty Miller seems to be coming along as of late, he is still being out-snapped by Perriman (as infuriating as it is). It would not hurt the Bucs to take an early day-three flyer on a wide receiver in hopes of landing a promising third option in the passing game.
Ohio State’s K.J. Hill is that guy. On pace to become the most productive wide receiver in Ohio State history this year, K.J. Hill has played 46 straight games with a catch for the Buckeyes and has been a reliable option for first year start Justin Fields to target. The Bucs have missed that safe, reliable target this year after Adam Humphries walked to the Tennessee Titans this offseason.
They get another quality third target in the passing game here in the seasoned senior Hill.
