The Buccaneers, ten weeks too late, turned the keys of the running game over to second year running back Ronald Jones. The repercussions of this are probably that Peyton Barber will not be in a pewter and red uniform in 2020, so the Buccaneers will need to go out and get another running back for their backfield.

Dare Ogunbowale and T.J. Logan are not solid RB2 material, so either free agency or the draft are the Bucs’ best option. With their fifth round pick here, they are able to land one of the better sleeper picks in the draft in Utah’s Zack Moss.

Besides, in free agency the Bucs would be required to pay a running back, a risky endeavor in the NFL given the shelf life of the position. The draft is a far better option than free agency to pluck a new back to play in Tampa in 2020.

A senior, Moss is well on his way to his third straight 1,000 yard rushing season for the Utes, as he has already tallied 955 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns this season; he is averaging 6.3 yards per carry this year. With Barber likely on his way out, Moss would make an exceptional thunder to Jones’ lightning in the Bucs’ backfield in 2020.
