Like it or not, the best hope for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to compete in 2020 lies in the hands of Jameis Winston, and Jameis alone.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reached an important crossroads in the history of their team. This upcoming offseason will have implications that last for years to come and if it is handled poorly many more losing seasons should be expected. If the Bucs hope to be a successful team they need to continue to keep Jameis at the helm for the time being.

This is a very tough pill to swallow for Bucs fans and rightfully should be. Jameis’ talent is undeniable yet he has already thrown 18 interceptions this season and will likely throw more. This style of football is unsustainable of course, but it is not totally on the shoulders of Jameis. In his first season Bruce Arians has been far from good and should shoulder much more of the blame that Winston.

Winston has been stuck in an incredibly difficult situation since his drafting. Jason Licht has been flat out bad and yet he continues to be the general manager for the team even though Bruce Arians is starting to take on more of Licht’s duties. These two have put some great receivers around Jameis but have failed to provide their quarterback with the protection that he desperately needs to succeed.
