If the Buccaneers are willing to shell out upwards of $30 million for a quarterback this offseason, then sign Teddy Bridgewater and not Jameis Winston.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have six games left in the 2019 season, and quarterback Jameis Winston has not received a new contract yet. With his future hanging up in the air, it looks like Winston’s best bet is the franchise tag; this amount is currently projected to come in at around $26.7 million for the 2020 season. If the Buccaneers are willing to pay upwards of $30 million for a quarterback in 2020, it should not be to Winston, but rather to New Orleans Saints quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

Throughout this 2019 season, we have seen more of the same of Winston that has been displayed over the last four seasons: a few good games, some average games, and a few absolutely terrible performances. With two games this year of over four interceptions, it is evident that Winston has not taken the necessary step in his fifth year in the league; if it has not happened at this point, the probability that it ever will is low.

This is not to mention any of the off-the-field issues that Winston has had throughout his collegiate and professional career as well. Given that Winston has not been given a new contract extension at this point, it is safe to assume that he has yet to win over the trust of the Bucs organization and leadership.

Here we will compare the numbers of both Winston and Bridgewater and let you be the judge of who is most worthy of a massive contract from the Buccaneers.
