The Buccaneers win and both Mike Evans and Chris Godwin have eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark on the season; so many things to celebrate!
Winning the game yesterday afternoon over the division rival Atlanta Falcons was not the only thing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to celebrate. In the process of the 35-22 victory, both wide receivers Chris Godwin and Mike Evans went over 1,000 yards receiving on the season for the pewter and red.
With seven catches for 184 yards and two touchdowns against the Falcons’ secondary, Chris Godwin has now tallied 1,072 yards receiving on the season. Godwin has also tallied a career high in catches with 70 on the season and leads the league in receiving touchdowns with nine on the year.
Mike Evans finished the game with a productive 50 yards on four catches as well; he did not find the endzone in this matchup, but saw eight targets on the day, matching Godwin’s number. On the year, Evans has tallied 1,043 yards receiving and seven touchdowns on 62 catches for the pewter and red offense.
The Buccaneers have the best receiving duo in the NFL with Godwin and Evans as the offense racked up four touchdowns in yesterday’s victory over the Falcons (one score was a defensive touchdown). While quarterback Jameis Winston does tend to throw a handful of picks a game, he also has the ability to deliver strikes; Evans and Godwin have been on the receiving end of a combined 16 of them this season.
Not only have Evans and Godwin combined for a massive amount of touchdowns on the season, but also have a combined 132 catches for 2,115 yards receiving as the Buccaneers have now moved on to 4-7 and on the season. The dynamic duo of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin will now move on to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars and inch closer back to .500.
