Pick Analysis. Pick 44. player. Scouting Report. Round 2. Marvin Wilson. DT. 804

In the second round, the Buccaneers head to the defensive side of the ball, where they avoid using another day two pick on a cornerback. After drafting Sean Murphy-Bunting and Jamel Dean a year ago, and with the success of Carlton Davis, the Bucs can afford to take a chance elsewhere; instead they go to the interior of their defensive line and take Florida State standout Marvin Wilson.

Vita Vea is a beast (and now a dual threat after his touchdown yesterday) along the defensive front for the pewter and red, but Ndamukong Suh signed only a one year deal this offseason and will be off chasing his next contract in 2020. William Gholston has been much improved this season as well, but the Bucs desperately need depth inside.

Wilson, despite his season ending injury, is a great interior defensive line prospect and should still hear his name called relatively early in the draft. The big 6-5 and 311 pound defensive tackle, in just nine games, topped his totals from a year ago with five sacks and eight and a half tackles behind the line of scrimmage.

Additionally, Wilson has knocked down a large total of four passes down at the line of scrimmage, putting his huge length on display; he has also recorded a forced fumble for the Seminoles as well. His medicals at the combine will be a huge stage in the pre-draft for Wilson, but he has all of the talent in the world.
