Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. IOL. Ben Bredesen. 74. Round 4. player. 811

The Buccaneers need a guard to play opposite of Ali Marpet. Marpet is versatile and could move to right guard if needed, but Ben Bredeson is a left guard who could possibly move to right guard if needed. Originally projected to go in the late-second to early-third round, he’s dropped to the fourth round recently in a few projections. He’s still the same prospect he was earlier in the season though.

Bredeson is a prototypical NFL-sized guard. At 6’5 and 325 pounds, size is not an issue for him. He has a great wingspan and is an explosive player off the line who can also quickly move laterally from any stance or angle. He could possibly even play a bit of tackle in that regard, he was even originally a tackle before moving to guard in college. He came into the 2019 season with 33 starts under his belt already, so he’s an experienced player that might not be quite as overwhelmed with the transition to the NFL as some prospects might be.

The only gripes about him are that if he gets beaten at the line, he doesn’t often recover. Once he’s defeated in a play, that’s it. That’s something that can be coached out of him, but he could end up struggling at first because of that.
