Pick Analysis. 17. player. 48. Scouting Report. WR. 5 catches, 59 yards, 1 TD. Justin Watson

On his long 61 yard touchdown reception from a Jameis Winston bomb, star wide receiver Mike Evans came up limping as he pulled his hamstring. In the second half and the remainder of the first half, Evans’ role was replaced by second year receiver Justin Watson, who stepped in and posted career highs for the pewter and red.

When the Buccaneers needed him most, Watson caught five balls from Winston for 59 yards and a score as they went back and forth with the Colts. With Breshad Perriman, who also stepped up on Sunday, more than likely leaving at the end of his contract in 2020, Watson is staking his claim as the third wide receiver for the future with the Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers would not have been able to accomplish what they did in the second half of Sunday’s game with just Chris Godwin making an impact in the passing game. Breshad Perriman and O.J. Howard deserved consideration, but given the context of Watson coming off the bench and making an impact for the offense, he gets the game ball.

Watson certainly took advantage of the opportunity he was given with Scotty Miller inactive and Mike Evans going down with an injury.
